Objective: Students will compare and contrast two artworks using digital media.
Materials:
Introduce: Take students on a guided tour at the Milwaukee Art Museum. We suggest using the Communities and Traditions tour for this lesson. *Schedule time after your tour for students to self-guide and take photos of the artwork.
Ask:
- What are some artworks that inspired you on the tour?
- How are these artworks similar? Different?
Activity:
- Have students experiment with one of two Web 2.0 tools, Animoto or Glogster, to compare two works of art that they saw.
- Students should use their knowledge of the tool to comment on cultural similarities, differences, and artistic styles by comparing and contrasting two paintings that are representative of a life cycle event or daily activity.
National Standards:
- VA:Re7.2.8a Compare and contrast contexts and media in which viewers encounter images that influence ideas, emotions, and actions.
