Once Upon a Time… / Habia Una Vez…

Objective: Students will create a simple story inspired by their Museum tour using Voicethread

Materials:   

Introduce: Take students on a guided tour at the Milwaukee Art Museum. We suggest using the Communities and Traditions tour for this lesson. 

Ask:  

  •  What is a community? 
  • How does art show community? 

Activity:  

  1. Take students on a Communities and Traditions tour at the Milwaukee Art Museum. 
  1. Have students choose one of the artworks they saw on their tour as inspiration for their story. Images of artwork can be found here
  1. Students will use Voicethread to create a simple story to share with classmates. 
  1. Have students listen to and comment on at least one of their classmates’ stories. 

National Standards:  

  • VA:Cn11.1.8a Distinguish different ways art is used to represent, establish, reinforce, and reflect group identity.
