The Impressionists made a wide variety of marks in their artworks. Have your students look at the Impressionism worksheet (PDF) and use the roster of marks found in the exhibition to make their own work of art. Encourage them to use the subject matter of the Impressionists as inspiration. See if they can incorporate all of the different marks into one piece. Some require smudging! Let them use pencil, watercolor, pastel, chalk, and charcoal if available.
