Field Trip to Impressionist Europe

Objective: Students will explore Impressionism and virtually visit modern day places that were important to the Impressionists. 

Materials:   

  • Computer  

Introduce: Demonstrate to students how to use Google Earth to look up the following places that were important to the Impressionists. 

Ask:  

  •  Why do you think these places were important to the Impressionists? 
  • Do you think they are still important to artists today? 

Activity:  

Go on a virtual field trip to the following places: 

  1. Moulin Rouge, Paris, France 

A popular bar and theater where Impressionists hung out. 

  1. The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France 

France’s icon, built towards the very end of most of the Impressionists’ lifetime 

  1. Beach at Trouville-sur-Mer, France
