Have students look for their favorite color as you self-guide through Color Rush: 75 Years of Color Photography in America.
For younger elementary students, identify colors together as a group as you walk through the exhibition. Have students tally up how many times they see their color. One work of art you may want to focus on with younger students is John Baldessari’s Floating: Color (1972).
For older elementary students, when they find their color, talk together about the color itself. Is it warm or cool? Primary or secondary? Would the student have made the same choice in photographing this subject, or focusing on that color? Why or why not?
