Objective: Students will create a classroom dictionary to better understand vocabulary and take ownership of their learning.
Materials:
- Paper
- Writing utensil
- Book binding materials (ex: staples, binder rings, twine)
- Bulletin board
Introduce: As you go through your lesson, point out vocabulary words related to artworks or art making. Compile these words and definitions in a book or on a bulletin board. Tip: have students come up with definitions so they better understand and remember!
Ask:
- What vocabulary words do we already know?
- What vocabulary words do we want to know?
Activity:
- Identify vocabulary words
- Define vocabulary words
- Have students add definitions to a sketchbook, class dictionary, or bulletin board
