Are you looking for ways to integrate more visual art into your writing curriculum? Perhaps you’d like to encourage more creative writing for your students. Maybe you need some engaging activities for a sub. Milwaukee Art Museum has just the resource to help you out.
Our recently published book, Look, Write, See: Activities for Teaching Writing and Looking at Art contains twenty highly adaptable writing activities to get your students engaged in writing inspired by art. Though the book features works of art from the collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum, the activities can be used in any museum, classroom, or anywhere art can be found.
This book has also inspired our popular Writing + Art tours for 4th-12th grade students. A docent educator will get students to observe art, analyze details, and make personal connections while documenting their ideas in their very own sketchbooks during this 90-minute tour. For more information, or to schedule a Writing + Art tour contact the Tour Administrator by emailing grouptours@mam.org. Or book your tour online today!
