Objective: Students will create an animated presentation explaining what art means to community.
Materials:
- Digital camera or cell phone camera
Introduce: Take students on a guided tour at the Milwaukee Art Museum. We suggest using the Communities and Traditions tour for this lesson. *Schedule time after your tour for students to self-guide and take pictures of artwork in the galleries.
Ask:
- What is a community?
- What can art mean to a community?
Activity:
- Have students take photos in the galleries of artwork they would like to include in their presentation.
- Students will use Animoto to create a visual display of various works that represent their interpretation of Communities and Traditions.
- Make sure students include title and conclusion slides that reflect their thoughts on Communities and Traditions.
- Through this presentation, students should explain what art can mean to a community.
- Students should keep design in mind when selecting various works of art in the Museum to visually represent and construct their ideas around the theme of world communities.
- Students should arrange the order, music, and words to create a meaningful presentation that evokes emotion.
National Standards:
- VA:Cr2.3.8a Select, organize, and design images and words to make visually clear and compelling presentations.
