Go outside of the school, possibly to a park, sketch what you see in the landscape.
What captures your attention in the landscape? What season is it? What time of day do you think it is? What is the weather like? What other qualities about nature would a Hudson River School artist notice? How does this landscape make you feel? What colors can you use to capture those feelings? How do you think the landscape would have looked 10 years ago? 20? 100? Similarly to a Hudson River School artist, complete your preliminary sketch here and take it back to your studio (or classroom) to complete your painting!
