Objective: Students will observe the painting to explore how water shapes the land. They will connect their observations with the understanding of erosion, rock formation, and natural water cycle.
Look: Students will examine the painting and think about what they notice about the water, how do the rocks look, where they think the water comes from or goes, and what it might feel like standing there.
Think: Students will think about the waterfall and how it creates erosion and think about how weathering (breaking down rock) and erosion (the movement of rock) happen. Students will then be asked to think about how the water might slowly change or shape these cliffs or what it might look like in the future.
Create: Students will then create a drawing or painting of their own waterfall landscape that shows how erosion changes rocks over time and then explain or share their piece.
