Resources: JDSP Graduation Projects

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students from school groups around the Milwaukee area have been participating in the three-year, multi-visit Junior Docent School Program since it began in 1976. During the final year, graduating students select a favorite work of art from the Collection for closer investigation in a capstone project. They present their learning with an artistic reproduction and oral presentation to peers, families and Museum staff to graduate as Junior Docents of the Milwaukee Art Museum.

The 2019-2020 Junior Docent School Program ended prematurely due to precautions and closures from the Covid-19 Pandemic. But staying home hasn’t stopped students and teachers from across the community from sharing their learning and appreciation of art. This special web page represents the hard work of students and the support of teachers and families to complete Junior Docent capstone projects by sharing their work or participating in virtual graduation ceremonies.
Congratulations graduating Junior Docents on your achievements and thank you so much for sharing your work! We look forward to welcoming you and your families back to the Milwaukee Art Museum to visit your favorite works of art in person!
