Objective: Students will be able to write a 4 sentence short story that goes
along with the painting without knowing any background knowledge of the
painting.

Look: Look at the painting closely. See the different shapes and figures that are
in this painting. How do you read the painting? Do you see people in the
painting? Numbers? Objects? How does this painting tell a story to you?

Write: After you have observed the painting and have wrote down 4 key aspects
of the painting that tell you a story, you will write a 4 sentence short story that you
would share with someone about the painting. Use descriptive, juicy words that
will allow the person listening to the story to imagine what you are reading to us

Share: Students will then share their interpretation of the painting to the class.
The class will be able to share if they had something similar to the students
reading and discover new views on the painting that other students may have not
seen. Students will be able to discuss adding to each other’s short stories with
the new ideas the class discusses about.

Standard: W.6.1 Compose reflective, formal, and creative writing, which may
happen simultaneously or independently, for a variety of high-stakes and
low-stakes purposes
