
Objective: Students will create a short story/narrative about the painting displayed in detail. The story should include who, what, when, where, and why about what is happening in the painting.
Look: As you observe this painting, what do you imagine is being discussed? What do you hear, see, smell, and feel? Why are they around a candle? What is going to happen next or what led to this point?
Write: Use your 5 senses, your imagination, and what you just thought about to create a story to go along with this painting. Be descriptive as possible, use figurative language to convey your story.
Share: Read your story aloud to others and immerse them fully into the world you created. How is your story the same or different from your classmates? Did you interpret the painting differently? What do you like about your peers’ stories? iS there something you can improve in your own story to make it stand out more?

Convey events, real or imagined, through narrative/short stories which orients a reader by establishing a real or imagined situation and introducing a narrator and characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally. Use narrative techniques, such as dialogue, description, and pacing, to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations.
