
Objective: Students will know that people can have different perspectives from looking at the same image. Students can listen to and welcome the ideas of others and compare and contrast them to their own.
Look: Look at the image. What do you notice about the people? What different facial expressions do you see? What are the people doing in the picture? What objects do you see?
Write: What event do you think is going on? When and where do you think this is taking place? What do you think everyone is talking about in this picture to cause such a big reaction? Why do you think some people are reacting differently than others? Who looks like they are in charge? What makes you think this?
Share: Share your observations with a partner or small group. Are there similarities in ideas being shared? Are there differences? Ask for volunteers to share out to the large group. Discuss how different perspectives can occur even when everyone was looking at the same picture. Follow up by asking if anyone was “right” with their explanation and why it is important to listen to the ideas of others.
