Objective: Students will describe an artwork using art vocabulary.
Materials:
- Images of selected artworks
Introduce: Use this activity to practice art vocabulary terms. Review terms and definitions before demonstrating the game.
Ask:
- What descriptive vocabulary terms can be used?
- What is most important to share with your partner?
Activity:
- Pair students together arranging them back to back.
- One student will have an image of an artwork while the other does not.
- The student with the artwork will use art vocabulary to describe the artwork in as much detail as possible. (2-3minute rounds)
- Reveal the artwork and have pairs discuss what they expected to see versus what is really there.

- VA:Re8.1.6a Interpret art by distinguishing between relevant and non-relevant contextual information and analyzing subject matter, characteristics of form and structure, and use of media to identify ideas and mood conveyed.
